If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, I'm sure you've already heard me tirelessly plugging Shoot Simply. Since we are in the final week of early registration, and less than a month away from the big day, I wanted to share a little more with you about why I decided to plan this event, and what it is really all about.

For starters, I was probably the shyest kid in grade school. Actually, not probably, I definitely was. Soft spoken, a little insecure, and that "awkward artsy" type. I've come a long way over the last 10 years, however, the thought of putting on a big event was still intimidating. I was standing in my kitchen one day, and completely out of the blue, I felt the pull to plan an event with other industry professionals for photographers. I wasn't sure what, where, or how, but there was something there that I wanted to try. The next day I found myself emailing industry connections about collaborating on a styled wedding workshop and Shoot Simply started to develop.

An opportunity for vendors to come together while having artistic freedom to portray their style and talents--showcasing and attracting our dream clients. An opportunity to get creative while also practicing our techniques, and trying new things to gear up for the wedding season ahead. Most importantly, an opportunity to collaborate, network, and come together as a creative community to just do something for fun.

I'm excited to be teaming up with Shelby of The Day's Design to host a one day styled wedding shoot/workshop. If you've ever seen the styled wedding shoots where everything is so beautifully styled and coordinated down to the very last detail and you've thought to yourself "I wish I could photograph something like that!" Now you can--and with little planning on your end. Simply register, show up with your camera on May 20th, relax, meet new friends, network with industry pros, have lunch, photograph all of the pretty details and bride and groom model and leave with an amazing new shoot to add to your portfolio.

Shoot Simply will be held at the unique and beautifully serene whitetail deer ranch, Two Hats Ranch in Big Rapids, MI. You'll feel like you've reached an amazing destination, yet feel at right home all at the same time. The inspiration for the shoot is a whimsical blend of rustic and modern elements artistically orchestrated by Shelby of The Day's Design, surrounded by 1,200 beautiful acres of woods and open fields of Two Hats Ranch for our shooting delight.

Event styling, two tablescapes, florals, and décor, provided by The Day's Design. A beautiful bride and groom modeling, with the bride's dress showcased from the amazing Ali Nicole Bridal with hair and makeup by the lovely Makeup by Jackie Green. Coco Renée Specialty Baking is creating a stunning cake and delicious treats. A custom invitation suite and paper goods created by Lana's Lettering for your styling needs, and Arise Creations is creating a custom jewelry piece.

If you are new to wedding photography and want to build your portfolio in a guided group setting, I'll be shooting with you and helping guide and assist with any questions you have along the way.

If you are a experienced wedding photographer who wants to refresh your portfolio, or try new shots you never seem to have time for during the hustle and bustle of a real wedding, you are welcome to come shoot independently.

If you've wanted to learn what shots vendors like to receive from photographers, or how to style details and florals in a way that makes vendors want to share your work, Shelby will be on site to answer styling, planning and floral questions.
